3D Printing Tips and Tricks

Tips for Printing Like a ProDesigning and 3D printing your own projects can be one of the most rewarding experience a creator or designer can experience, but it does come with its challenges and difficulties. Here are a few tips and tricks that have helped users in the past find more success in their design and printing process.
Per the Ultimaker website warping is described as the following: Warping occurs due to material shrinkage whilst 3D printing, which causes the corners of the print to lift and detach from the build plate. When plastics are printed, they firstly expand slightly but contract as they cool down. If material contracts too much, this causes the print to bend up from the build plate
If your prints are suffering from warping, try these tips and you should see better results.
Heated Enclosure: Ensuring that you have an airtight seal around your 3D printer will reduce the amount of heat loss while printing as well as reduce the airflow affecting your print
Rafts: Rafts help hold the structure down and minimize shrinkage
*Tech Expert Tip: Use tape or glue on your print bed to ensure your rafting sticks to the bed surface. This will also make it a little easier to remove your print once it’s finished.
Infill: 100% Infill isn’t always the best option when printing. Most product guides suggest using an infill of about 20 - 25% (The less compounded heated plastic that you have in your build the less likely you are to suffer from warping or shrinkage.)
Here a few things to consider when choosing filament.
Filament Diameter: Diameter ranges from brand to brand make sure that the filament you choose matches the recommendations for your printer. (Unclogging your extruder can really put a damper on your productivity)
Moisture: Moisture can expedite the useful life of your filament material. We suggest keeping it in a very dry place or better yet investing in a dry box to get the most out of your filament purchase.
Impurities: Remember at the end of the day there is quite a bit of chemistry involved in the additive manufacturing, choosing the best quality materials can ensure you don’t end up with an artifact attached to your print that wasn't intended.

ABS Glue: This is a great addition to any 3D printing toolkit. Here are some of the ways that ABS glue help give your print a more professional finish.
Bonding: Small parts can be adhered together to create larger more intricate parts
Post Printing (Finishing): Can be used to improve surface finish of parts
Repair: This glue can be used for mending cracks to your final part
